After a year delay, the Summer Olympics are being held in Tokyo over the next two weeks. There are of course many COVID-related concerns about such a large-scale event being held, and we hope that the precautions being taken will keep cases to an absolute minimum.
Attending and competing in the Olympics will be a number of athletes with ties to Oregon. These include female soccer athlete Crystal Dunn, male shotput athlete Ryan Crouser, male track & field athlete Matthew Centrowitz, male baseball player (and Yakult Swallows relief pitcher) Scott McGough, and female softball athlete Janie Takeda Reed, among others.
We wish them all the best of luck in the Olympics, with hopes that they bring some medals back to Oregon (and stay healthy)!
