Portland On June 19, based on approval from the Oregon state government, the city of Portland and neighboring cities in Multnomah County were able to move into Phase 1 re-opening in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The move into Phase 1 will impact a number of different impacts on social gatherings and business.  Restaurants, bars, pubs, etc. will be able to offer dine/drink in services with various restrictions (e.g., spacing tables at least 6 feet apart).  Personal care services such as salons and barber shops can also open with restrictions, such as taking customer logs and keeping customers 6 feet from each other. Gyms can also re-open, with certain restrictions and sanitation procedures in place. Finally, gatherings are limited to 25 people or less.

We at Hokusei North America look forward to a careful, gradual return to normal, and hope that our fellow Oregonians respect the guidelines put forth by state health authorities.
